About The Position

Serves as the spiritual and administrative leader of the preschool program, providing Christ-centered guidance, academic excellence, and a safe, nurturing environment for children ages three to five. Ensures alignment with the mission and values of the church and school, oversees daily operations, supports staff and families, and upholds high standards of early childhood education. Consistently reflects God’s love in every interaction, serving as a positive influence on staff, students, and families for Christ, while fully embodying the Sunlight Way in all areas of responsibility.

Requirements

  • A committed Christian who regularly attends church and actively lives out their faith.
  • Demonstrates a growing personal relationship with Jesus through consistent spiritual disciplines such as scripture reading, prayer, gratitude and fellowship.
  • Bilingual candidate required, speaking both English and Spanish.
  • Exhibits a consistently positive attitude upholding the values and mission of the school.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to connect well with students, parents and staff.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in all matters.
  • Flexible and willing to support school operations in a variety of roles as needed.
  • Dependable with a strong commitment to punctuality and regular attendance.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience leading in a preschool classroom required.
  • Current Florida Director’s Credential approved through DCF required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field required.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification required.
  • Food Management Certification required.
  • All employees are subject to a background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.

Responsibilities

  • Spiritual Leadership
  • Model Christ-like character and cultivate a spiritually rich preschool environment.
  • Integrate Biblical truth and Christian values into all aspects of the program.
  • Partner with families to support the spiritual growth of young children.
  • Pray regularly for staff, students, and families.
  • Act as primary liaison between the church and the school as a member of the campus leadership team.
  • Partner with the pastors in planning and conducting weekly chapel services for preschool students, integrating age-appropriate worship, Bible lessons, and spiritual activities to enhance their spiritual growth.
  • Program Oversight & Curriculum
  • Develop and implement a developmentally appropriate, standards-aligned curriculum for two- and three-year-olds and VPK in accordance with the Florida Early Learning and Development Standards guidelines , Christian principles, and Palm Beach County School Readiness requirements.
  • Ensure alignment and implementation of: Frog Street curriculum for age-appropriate instruction. Bible curriculum integrated into daily routines, worship, and classroom activities. Cultural Enrichment Curriculum that introduces students to diverse traditions, languages, art, music, and cultural experiences, fostering respect and appreciation for diversity. Conscious Discipline strategies to promote positive behavior, social-emotional growth, and self-regulation. Summer Camp Curriculum provided by the main campus in Port St. Lucie.
  • Monitor instructional quality and provide support for differentiation and learning needs.
  • Oversee assessment systems, including Teaching Strategies Gold, FAST, and Ages & Stages Questionnaires (ASQ).
  • Maintain APPLE and CSFL Accreditation and ensure compliance with ELC, DOE, and DCF standards.
  • Attend required trainings and meetings with the above entities on a regular basis.
  • Staff Supervision & Development
  • Interview, hire, and train new preschool teachers and support staff.
  • Meet weekly with lead teachers and enrichment coordinators to ensure instruction aligns with program goals, accreditation standards, and Christian mission.
  • Work closely with the Assistant Director to manage staff, schedules, and classroom coverage needs.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, respect, and shared mission.
  • Train teaching staff on CLASS domains (Emotional Support, Classroom Organization, Instructional Support).
  • Ensure teaching staff: Follow the daily schedule consistently. Use the Frog Street curriculum with fidelity and consistency. Apply Conscious Discipline strategies daily. Integrate the Bible curriculum and the Cultural Enrichment Curriculum into lesson plans and daily routines to enhance student learning.
  • Guide staff in aligning lesson plans with CLASS indicators , ASQs , Teaching Strategies GOLD , and FAST results.
  • Conduct formal observations and classroom & Playground walkthroughs, providing coaching and actionable feedback to support student growth.
  • Ensure teachers are providing opportunities for parent-teacher conferences 3x per year and be available to sit in if needed.
  • Enrollment, Attendance & Family Central Compliance (Food Program)
  • Ensure the classrooms are full with students up to the school’s capacity.
  • Create and implement marketing strategies to spread the word about school programs.
  • Manage tours, applications, waitlists, and enrollment packets.
  • Ensure proper documentation is on file for all students (immunizations, emergency contacts, allergies, ELC, and VPK eligibility forms).
  • Maintain up-to-date student files (paper or digital).
  • Track student attendance on ELC Portal and Family Central and coordinate monthly package billing.
  • Oversee the Family Central Food Program, including menus, food safety, attendance, and catering by Diana Food Group.
  • Maintain teacher files and personnel documentation.
  • Communicate registration deadlines, fees, and openings.
  • Administrative & Operational Duties
  • Work in collaboration with the finance coordinator to ensure the budget is being followed.
  • Manage daily operations, including attendance, discipline, safety procedures, and emergency preparedness.
  • Maintain student screeners, records, assessments, and documentation using TSG, FAST, and ASQs, and coordinate parent-teacher conferences.
  • Collaborate with the church, school office, and leadership to ensure unified ministry efforts.
  • Coordinate and oversee school-wide events and celebrations such as Open House, Fall Festival, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Graduation, and other special programs, ensuring that each event reflects the school’s mission and engages families in meaningful community experiences.

  • Work in conjunction with the Assistant Director to ensure smooth preschool operations and team cohesion.
  • Reflect conditions outlined in School Leadership Team Expectations in all areas of responsibility.
