About The Position

Are you passionate about working with young children and love to cook? The Learning Experience - Zephyrhills is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Preschool Chef to join our team as an ambassador of happiness! As a Preschool Chef, you'll play a key role in making a difference in the lives of children, their families, and our community by preparing healthy, delicious meals that help children learn, play, and grow.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum 1 year of experience in food preparation or cooking (childcare, school, or healthcare setting preferred).
Valid Food Handler's Certificate (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire).
Knowledge of safe food storage, portioning, and sanitation practices.
Ability to lift 25 lbs and move efficiently in a busy kitchen environment.
Must meet DCF and Level 2 fingerprinting requirements.
A positive, reliable, and caring attitude-someone who takes pride in serving nutritious meals to children each day.

Responsibilities

Plan, prepare, and cook nutritious meals and snacks that meet USDA child care nutrition guidelines.
Maintain and track food allergies and communicate daily with classroom teachers to ensure each child's safety.
Prepare meals free of nuts and pork, using approved substitutes like Wow Butter or sunflower butter.
Follow all food safety, handling, and sanitation procedures and maintain a clean, organized kitchen environment.
Collaborate with the Center Leadership Team to order supplies, manage food inventory, and track records as required by state agencies.
Work efficiently within a no-stove kitchen setup using convection ovens, crock pots, and blenders.
Support teachers during meal service and help create a fun, positive dining experience for children.
Occasionally assist with special themed lunches or family events that bring our TLE community together.
