About The Position

Kamaʻāina Kids, one of Hawaiʻi’s Top Workplaces, is seeking Substitute Preschool Aides to support Mililani preschool classrooms for infants through PreK. This flexible, on-call role is for individuals who enjoy working with young children and want meaningful opportunities to make a positive difference for keiki and teaching teams. As a Substitute Preschool Aide, you will assist in classrooms when regular staff are out, ensuring each day remains positive, safe, and engaging for young learners. Kamaʻāina Kids is Hawaiʻi’s largest locally owned nonprofit childcare provider, serving children and families since 1987, operating preschool, school-age, and enrichment programs across Oʻahu, Maui, Kauaʻi, and Hawaiʻi Island. Requirements

• A genuine interest in working with young children
• 18 years or older with a high school diploma or GED
• Dependable, adaptable, and ready to step in where needed
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
• Must live in Hawaiʻi or be planning to relocate

Nice To Haves

• Experience with children (babysitting, parenting, tutoring, coaching, volunteering) is helpful

Responsibilities

• Supporting teachers with classroom activities (art, music, outdoor play)
• Assisting with daily routines such as snacks, transitions, and clean‑up
• Helping children feel welcomed, secure, and included
• Adapting to different classrooms and teamwork styles
• Creating continuity and calm for children during staff absences
