About The Position

Quantum Graphics is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pre-Press Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for preparing digital files for print production, managing pre-press workflows, and ensuring high-quality print output.

This role includes both computer-based and physical tasks and requires close collaboration with multiple departments to maintain production efficiency and resolve issues.

This is not a design position.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience as a Prepress Technician in a commercial print facility (Required)
• High School Diploma or GED (Required)
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat)
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• High level of accuracy
• Sitting approximately 90% of the shift; standing/bending 10%
• Ability to lift printing plates weighing between 5–30 lbs
• Closed-toe shoes required
• Regular communication with supervisors and team members within Quantum Graphics is required.
• All final candidates must successfully complete a background check in accordance with Minnesota law as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s degree in Printing Technology or related field (Preferred)
• Familiarity with imposition software (XMF a plus, but not required)

Responsibilities

• Press layouts
• File corrections
• Digital plate processing
• Prepress electronic stripping
• Troubleshooting file and workflow issues
• Preparing and manipulating client files (text and images)
• Pre-flight and prepare customer-supplied files for print production
• Create and send digital proofs to clients for approval
• Make revisions and corrections to files as requested
• Review and interpret job tickets to plan workflow
• Output printing plates using a CTP (Computer-to-Plate) system
• Collaborate with production and customer service teams to ensure job accuracy
