About The Position

Tomball Retirement Center is hiring a Prep Cook to support our dining services by preparing high-quality, resident-centered meals. You’ll work in a high-volume kitchen, following recipes and production sheets, with exposure to health-care dining standards (specialized diets and texture modifications).

Requirements

  • 1+ year prep/line experience in a high-volume kitchen (required).
  • ServSafe Food Handler (or ability to obtain shortly after hire); Manager cert a plus.
  • Able to stand/walk most of the shift and safely lift/push/pull up to ~40–50 lbs.
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable following recipes and written directions.

Nice To Haves

  • Senior living/health-care food service experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prep & Production: Wash, cut, batch, and label ingredients; scale recipes; set up station for dinner service.
  • Diet Compliance: Follow diet cards and production sheets; support therapeutic diets (diabetic, cardiac, low-sodium) and texture modifications (mechanical soft, minced & moist, puréed, thickened liquids).
  • Quality & Timing: Maintain portion accuracy, taste/temperature standards, and on-time tray/line delivery.
  • Food Safety: Practice HACCP, FIFO, date/label, temp logs; keep prep areas, coolers, and equipment clean.
  • Teamwork: Coordinate with Cooks/Lead, Servers, and the Dietary Manager; assist with receiving and storage.
