About The Position

The Prep Cook is responsible for assisting cooks, chefs, or food service managers by preparing ingredients for recipes and performing other food preparation and service tasks.  The Prep Cook should prepare and portion food items and perform varios duties according to recipes and production guidelines while adhering to food safety, food handling, and sanitation procedures.  Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary by Aramark location based on client requirements and business needs.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in food prep or food service-related work preferred
  • Knowledge of various food prep methods, proper knife handling, and food safety regulations such as proper food handling, temperature control, sanitation, and storage preferred
  • Must be able to obtain and present Washington State Food Worker Card
  • Demonstrates basic math and counting skills
  • Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling of up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
  • Sets up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
  • Prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
  • Safely utilizes a variety of utensils including knifes
  • Arranges, garnishes, and portions food according to established guidelines
  • Maintains accurate rotation of food to assure top quality and freshness.
  • Properly stores and manages leftover foods correctly; cover, label, date, and accurately store according to Aramark standards and food safety policies.
  • Maintains clean and orderly refrigerators and work areas.
  • Maintains a safe and sanitary work environment that conforms to all food safety standards and regulations.
  • Maintains excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guest, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
  • Adheres to Aramark safety policies and procedures including proper food safety and sanitation
  • Ensures security of company assets
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned by manager
