About The Position

The Washington State House of Representatives is seeking experienced candidates for a prep cook/server to assist with cafeteria operations. The cafeteria offers breakfast and lunch as a standard during the week. Dinners and weekend service are sometimes required. This position can lead to a recurring annual position during subsequent legislative sessions.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and service
Knowledge of culinary techniques
Passion for hospitality with a focus on delivering exceptional guest experiences
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Two+ years of experience prepping and serving food in a professional kitchen
Ability to lift 50+ pounds
Possession of a Food Workers Card from the Thurston County Department of Health or other county public health department before the first day of work.

Responsibilities

Preparing meals and food to meet the specifications of guests in a timely manner
Properly measuring kitchen ingredients and food portions
Adhere to set standards, procedures, department rules and sanitation requirements
Using kitchen knives and equipment such as grills, ovens, steamers in food preparation
Maintain proper labeling of food, and adhering to first in first out for all products
Ensuring proper food temperatures when cooking and cooling foods
Keeping the workstation and kitchen equipment clean, organized and sanitized
Participating in opening and closing the kitchen
Always maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area
May perform other related duties as required.
