Requirements

  • Superior knife skills.
  • Understanding of industry-standard cooking and preparation practices.
  • Familiarity with safe and sanitary food handling and preparation.
  • ServSafe Certification preferred but not required.
  • Good math skills with an understanding of cooking measurements.
  • Strong sense of smell and taste.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare food to be cooked and served using established production procedures.
  • Operate kitchen equipment such as ranges, ovens, fryers, grills, and food processors safely and efficiently.
  • Label prepared food items and check off production sheets.
  • Store food properly and safely, marking date and item.
  • Prepare all food served following standard recipes accurately.
  • Portion food for serving at catering jobs.
  • Maintain a neat and clean work area; clean and maintain equipment used in food preparation.
  • Complete food temperature checks before service.
