About The Position

The PREP Clinic Coordinator Bilingual is a critical role within the Community Health Team, focused on HIV/STI prevention and PREP (Pre-exposure prophylaxis) adoption among high-risk populations. This position supports the city's efforts to end the HIV epidemic by facilitating, coordinating, educating, and raising awareness. The coordinator will help prevent HIV/STI infections by providing access to treatment, offering supportive services, and delivering sex-positive and inclusive education and sexual health services. Primary responsibilities include coordinating and ensuring the success of the PREP Clinic Program within the health center, expanding PREP and PEP uptake, providing direct client services, program coordination, and team mentorship. The role works directly with the Sr. Director of Community Health to ensure program productivity and sustainability, and also involves identifying outreach opportunities to promote health and wellness services to HIV+ individuals not currently in care and engaging individuals needing Post-exposure Prophylaxis (PEP).

Requirements

  • Knowledge of ambulatory healthcare, HIV/STDs, substance abuse, PEP/PREP
  • Knowledge of the DC community
  • Ability to conduct sensitive, empathetic interviews that respect the dignity and diversity of clients
  • Excellent face-to-face interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively educate, treat, and counsel clients from diverse educational, social, and economic backgrounds
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the charisma, energy, and enthusiasm to present and facilitate group and individual interventions
  • Well-honed analytical skills, including the ability to understand, interpret, and present data related to the tracking of various Community Health related events, diseases, and behaviors
  • Developed organizational skills, including the ability to juggle several tasks at once and the capability to consistently reprioritize work as necessary to meet deadlines
  • Bachelor's Degree or at least four years of direct experience
  • Experience working with a broadly diverse population and ability to work harmoniously with diverse groups of individuals required
  • Completion of phlebotomy training is required
  • Completion of administering injection training is required

Nice To Haves

  • HIV testing and training certification from INSTI preferred
  • Experience providing counseling to people living with HIV preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the lead to patients of the PREP Clinic to answer general questions about PREP and the clinic
  • Supports the Prevention Programs Manager in all the PREP Clinic operations
  • Coordinates PREP Clinic clients’ prescriptions from our pharmacy daily and keeps hold of those prescriptions until delivery
  • Coordinates PREP injectable treatment for PrREP Clinic patients
  • Coordinates with pharmacy with the delivery of the injectable treatment for PREP and maintains inventory of the medication until it is administered
  • Administers Injectable cabotegravir for PREP for PREP patients
  • Provides one-on-one PREP and sexual health educational sessions
  • Conducts HIV/STI testing
  • Draws blood via standing order and processes the labs
  • Provides referrals to the PREP Navigator and for other Whitman-Walker program and services when applicable
  • Leads quarterly patient re-engagement campaign
  • Creates monthly reports
  • Documents all work activities according to established standards, collecting data for production in weekly, monthly, and annual reports, and assists with the creation of those reports as necessary
  • Assists with maintenance of testing kits, lab materials, and other physical inventory
  • Performs outreach to community agencies and social groups, promoting collaboration, referrals to Whitman-Walker programs, and enrollment of new clients in Whitman-Walker services
  • Develops guidelines, reports, procedures, and policies. Sets priorities and standards for achieving program goals and evaluates program activities
