Primary Duties Installs basic dial tone and ADSL Fiber/IPTV services including 1FR, 1FB and WIFI Install and maintain wiring in the central office, DLC, cross connections in the loop environment and on the customer premise Tests functionality and isolates problems using various test sets and deductive reasoning Explains products and services to customers, works to resolve customer understanding of products and services, and uses customer contact opportunities to sell products and services Accesses information systems as needed to make corrections for repair, ADSL, Fiber/IPTV order information, to activate/deactivate services, or to reassign equipment/facilities Maintain, upgrade, and create existing and new technical documentation Uses various hand tools and power equipment to install and make repairs to outside plant systems Interfaces with customers in the resolution of customer installation and repair issues Prepares customer bills for repair and installation work performed Interfaces with call center technicians to resolve customer installation and repair problems Climbs poles Drives company vehicle May be required to cross train others Responsible for the installation and repair of inside wiring and jacks, including CAT5 Responsible for installation and repair of wired and wireless networking Responsible for installation and repair of fiber to the home services Experience/Background Demonstrated experience in the installation or repair of POTS and Broadband services Demonstrated experience in an assignment requiring significant customer interaction Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environment Demonstrated experience in current PC operating systems - Vista, Win XP, 2000, 98 Demonstrated experience in use of a PC and desktop applications Demonstrated experience with wired and wireless networking Demonstrated experience in fusion splicing Demonstrated experience in customer premise inside wire repair and replacement Demonstrated experience in use of test equipment and interpretation of test results Associate Degree or Certifications in a related technical field would be Beneficial or Equivalent experience Work Environment Reporting location: Various Wears appropriate safety equipment and follows established safety practices and procedures Performs work both inside and outside in all kinds of weather Works in various building and surroundings, i.e., attics, basements, offices Interacts with customers on a daily basis Works independently with minimal supervision May work for long periods of time in confined areas such as crawl spaces May work in greasy, dirty or muddy surroundings May work aloft on poles, hydraulic lift bucket or ladders May work 8-hour or 10-hour tours - including non-traditional tours: May work day, evening, night or weekend tours, overtime, emergency callouts, weekends and holidays required May be required to quality for 10,000# GVW Certification Prerequisites High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Work Experience Ability to climb and pass pole climbing school Safety Requirements: safety shoes; Weight Restriction Policy applies Satisfactory performance rating Satisfactory attendance record in last twelve months Company driver's license Physical requirements: able to lift up to 85 pounds Ability to perceive differences in wire color
