Job Description We offer a merit-based work-from-home program based on job responsibilities. After initial training in-person, this specific role could have the flexibility to work from home up to 3 days per week. Please note we are not currently hiring fully remote positions and our office for this role is in Lansing, Michigan only. Auto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated insurance carrier, is seeking a predictive modeler to join our analytics teams. The position requires the person to: Use statistical or machine learning techniques to build models that address business needs and comply with regulatory requirements Work with large, complex data sets and develop a working knowledge of Auto-Owners data structures and metrics Conduct ad-hoc analysis and present results clearly at multiple-levels of stakeholders through visual displays of quantitative information Create clear and easy to understand documentation for models Monitor model performance and implement iterative improvements Desired Skills & Experience Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Operations Research, Economics, Electrical Engineering, etc.) Familiarity with Customer Lifetime Value frameworks Outstanding problem solving and critical thinking skills An understanding of statistical modeling or data science concepts, especially clustering, regression, and classification techniques. Aptitude and willingness to learn new things Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team (Preferred) Experience with demand modeling, analyzing elasticity of demand, and expense modeling. (Preferred) Proficiency with common coding languages (Python, R, SQL, etc.) (Preferred) Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline (Preferred) Professional experience building models with large data sets (Preferred) Insurance industry experience Compensation/Benefits The salary offered will be commensurate with skills and experience. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Operations Research, Economics, Electrical Engineering, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Customer Lifetime Value frameworks
