We are seeking an associate scientist/scientist to join the Smart Lab within Drug Product Design and Supply. The successful candidate will develop and deploy automation and technology processes for pharmaceutical drug candidates in a laboratory setting. Position Responsibilities The successful candidate will help develop laboratory automation solutions for drug product development applications as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Assist with design and testing of modular hardware to facilitate data-rich experimentation. Partner with research scientists and engineers on suitable experimentation to deliver DPDS workflows for solid dosage form development. Collaborate with colleagues to define and implement crystallization, polymorph, and salt screening activities according to project timelines. Conduct solid state physical and chemical characterization of small molecules of pharmaceutical relevance. This includes solid state characterization (e.g., spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, thermal analysis). Analysis of powder samples for key physical properties (such as particle size distribution, bulk density, true density, powder flow, particle shape) Development and characterization of prototype formulations for pharmaceutical small molecules on small scale with small amounts of material (mg) on rapid timelines. Measurement of key active compound and formulation properties (such as crystallinity, solubility, dissolution, etc.) Assessment of the performance of prototype formulations using in-vitro tests (dissolution, precipitation, etc.). Rapid and detailed documentation of experimental procedures and data in electronic laboratory notebooks.
