Summary: The Preconstruction Manager is responsible for leading the planning and coordination of construction projects prior to the start of field operations. This role ensures that all aspects of design, budgeting, scheduling, and stakeholder alignment are addressed to set projects up for successful execution.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and codes.
  • Proficiency in estimating and project management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Accubid, LiveCount, SmartSheets or similar).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with design-build and CMAR delivery methods is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and internal teams to define project scope and objectives.
  • Develop and manage preconstruction schedules and milestones.
  • Facilitate design reviews and value engineering sessions.
  • Prepare detailed construction estimates and budgets based on the bid estimate.
  • Analyze subcontractor bids and proposals.
  • Track and manage cost changes until project is assigned to an OPS Team.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with local codes, regulations, and Hays standards.
  • Lead preconstruction meetings with owners, consultants, and internal teams.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior leadership and clients.
  • Maintain accurate records of estimates, schedules, and design iterations.
  • Support the transition from preconstruction to operations with thorough handoffs.
