About The Position

The Precision Metrology Quality Inspector is responsible for calibrating gauges, setting up ESDS protections, and operating precision measurement equipment like Keyence programs and CMM to validate critical dimensions against GD&T on complex drawings. This role involves verifying vendor lot alloy chemistry using a PMI gun, sorting materials, and logging nonconformances (NCM). The inspector will also audit value streams for adherence to standard work, assist with occasional soldering workmanship reviews for electronic assemblies, and perform final verification on customer orders to ensure everything meets ISO-driven procedures. Key duties include collaborating with production and engineering on defects, helping drive root-cause analysis (5 Why), recommending process improvements, and managing material disposition (RTV, Scrap, or Rework). Adherence to safety protocols (PPE, 5S) and maintaining a clean, organized work area are paramount.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of Quality Inspection experience.
  • 1+ year using precision measuring tools and reading blueprints.

Nice To Haves

  • Comfort reading bills of materials, work instructions, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Hands-on with micrometers, calipers, thread gauges, comparators, and related metrology.
  • Time management, strategic thinking, adaptability.
  • Computer skills: SSO login, JD Edwards, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect in-house and supplier components; perform in-process and final inspections.
  • Use ESDS materials correctly when handling electronic parts (wrist straps, grounded mats).
  • Operate PMI gun, execute Keyence measurement programs, and run CMM.
  • Interpret engineering drawings/specifications and GD&T; conduct process audits.
  • Identify, document, and communicate defects/deviations; support corrective actions.
  • Inspect final assemblies prior to shipment; test and troubleshoot assemblies.
  • Collect samples for lab testing; coordinate with the quality control laboratory.
  • Maintain and verify calibration of inspection equipment; report issues promptly.
  • Keep accurate inspection records, quality data, and NCM documentation; generate reports.
  • Participate in training and monthly EHS sessions; follow all policies (on-time Start/Lunch/Breaks).
  • Support continuous improvement via root cause analysis and process enhancements (NCM/RTV/Scrap/Rework).
  • Follow 5S, PPE, and safety rules at all times; maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Clear verbal communication with co-workers and supervisors.
