About The Position

Build what flies. Lead who builds. Zenix Aerospace (formerly Senior Aerospace) is expanding our Jet Products team in Kearny Mesa. We’re seeking a precision-focused CNC Team Lead who can combine leadership, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement on first shift (Monday–Friday, 6:30am–3:00pm). Your mission Own the machining cell. Guide people and process. Deliver right-first-time aerospace parts on schedule. You’ll be the Supervisor’s backup and cross-functional liaison while maintaining at least 50% direct labor utilization and flexing to occasional overtime to meet customer delivery requirements. What you’ll own End-to-end execution: set up and run conventional and up to 5-axis CNC equipment, completing jobs from printed work orders with minimal oversight. Technical leadership: convert blueprints into tooling plans, setup procedures, and NC sequences using shop math, GD&T, and optimized feeds/speeds. Quality at the spindle: confirm in-process and final conformance using calipers, micrometers, bar gauges, templates, and fixtures. Stability and flow: prepare setup documentation, communicate special tooling needs, and keep production moving across shifts and departments. Asset care: monitor machines, adjust to resolve issues, and perform routine maintenance in a safe, efficient, 5S environment. Continuous improvement: maintain SQIDPP boards and other visuals; participate in Daily Management boards on Safety, Quality, Delivery, Efficiency, and Utilization; drive lean initiatives that lift quality, cost, and delivery. People development: train, mentor, and model professional behaviors—punctuality, teamwork, and openness to feedback.

Requirements

  • Fluent in reading drawings with dimensional, true position, and circularity callouts.
  • Proven skill in shop math, GD&T, and feeds/speeds; strong equipment monitoring and control.
  • Expertise in fixturing (clamping, centering, indicating) and cutting tool setup/insert changes.
  • Measurement mastery with precision instruments.
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office Suite, computerized spreadsheets, and desktop publishing software.
  • 5 years CNC setup/operation (or equivalent)
  • You should be proficient in Leadership / People Management.

Nice To Haves

  • 4 years aerospace preferred
  • prior Leadman role preferred
  • High school diploma/GED preferred; vocational training a plus.
