What Your Day Looks Like You’ll set up, modify, and operate industrial manual machines to restore large pump components to exacting specifications. On any given day, you may: Run Vertical Turret Lathes (VTL) , manual lathes , and horizontal boring mills to machine pump cases, impellers, wear rings, bearing housings, shafts, and covers. Hold tight tolerances of +/− 0.001" on critical features. Blueprint, layout, and plan setups using deep knowledge of metal properties and machining procedures. Calculate angles, radii, bolt circles, and other dimensions to complete precision work. Plane and bore horizontal pump casings (experience in this area is a plus). Safely operate overhead cranes for handling large components. What You Bring 3+ years of manual machining experience required; 5+ years preferred . Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints and hold close tolerances. Journeyman status (or Machinist’s Mate in the military) or equivalent practical experience preferred.
