About The Position

The Precision Grinding Engineer is responsible for the setup, programming, and operation of ID/OD grinding equipment used to re-grind shaft tapers. The ideal candidate has strong Studer ID/OD experience, strong machining knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and experience working with tight tolerances in a production environment. Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of ID/OD grinding experience, including at least 1year operating Studer grinding machines; 5+ years of overall machine tool experience.
  • Familiarity with CNC machine programming (FANUC or Siemens preferred)
  • Strong understanding of machining fundamentals and precision measurement.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Mechanical aptitude with strong problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as exceptional listening skills
  • Exceptional ability to speak and write effectively in a business environment
  • Exceptional ability to ask necessary questions
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and willingness to adapt to change and take initiative
  • Ability to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms for at least 3/4 of the normal work shift
  • Ability to lift and carry, push, or pull up to 40 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Set up ID and OD grinding machine, including wheel selection, dressing, fixturing, and alignment.
  • Perform precision surface grinding operations on metal components using manual and CNC grinding equipment, ensuring tight tolerances, superior surface finishes, and adherence to engineering specifications
  • Operate grinding equipment to produce precise inside diameter and face length on spindle shafts.
  • Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
  • Make real time adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Maintain machine cleanliness, safety, and proper documentation.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules and quality standards.
  • Document standardized processes and deliver hands on training to team members to ensure consistent, high quality execution.
  • Adheres to all company employment policies and safe practices
  • Performs other duties as assigned and explores opportunities to add value
