About The Position

Step into a late-afternoon start where you power up a bank of vertical machining centers, review the day’s prints, and set your plan of attack. As a CNC Milling Machinist at Avalign, you’ll turn complex drawings into high-precision components that help clinicians and patients every day. From verifying dimensions on first-article pieces to making thoughtful offset adjustments, you’ll own the details that keep quality on target.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; and/or at least 2 years of machining experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Comfort using calculators, computers, and reference materials on the job.
  • Skill solving practical problems that arise during machining.
  • Self-starter mindset, quick learning ability, and strong follow-through.
  • Team-oriented approach with solid written and verbal communication.
  • Reliability—you show up ready when it counts and can plan/execute across teams.
  • Proficiency in: GD&T, G-code, M-code, and blueprint reading.
  • Hands-on with: CNC Mill (3–4 axis VMC), CNC Mill (5+ axis VMC), measurement gauges, calipers, and micrometers.

Responsibilities

  • Study blueprints, sketches, specs, and sample parts to confirm dimensions, tolerances, and the machining sequence.
  • Select and change specific tooling (e.g., inserts, drills) as needed to meet part requirements.
  • Run parts, watch the cut, and quickly correct any out-of-tolerance conditions by adjusting controls or programs.
  • Measure components and sample pieces to verify conformity to finish specifications; document results as required.
  • Perform inspections and basic statistical checks to sustain process capability and product quality.
  • Collaborate with engineers, programmers, and production teammates to troubleshoot machining and assembly challenges.
  • Assist with machine teardowns when required and verify final part conformance.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workstation; handle other assigned duties.
  • Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality to keep commitments and support the team.
