About The Position

Opportunities exist for part-time, non-benefited instructors to teach college-level classes (potential for on-campus and/or online). Other responsibilities include submitting grades by the established deadline and other duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean and/or the Dean of CET (Current and Emerging Technology). Position Description & Details: The successful candidate will design, conduct, and interpret a wide range of studies relevant to their field of expertise in precision agriculture to address midwestern relevant agricultural challenges. The ability to develop and teach relevant courses, engage in outreach, supervise students and seasonal staff, and communicate with constituents in all backgrounds is also required. Statistical analysis, report writing, and presentation skills are essential. Duties include a combination of research, teaching, and service. Service includes department, college, and university committee work and participation in professional organizations. Have an appreciation for and add to the College's commitment to supporting students from all backgrounds.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an Agriculture field of study or
  • Bachelor's degree with 18 credit credits in an Agriculture field of study or
  • Associate degree in Agriculture field of study with 3 years of non- teaching work-related experience in agriculture field.
  • Certificate in specific discipline area and 5 years in non-teaching work-related experience or
  • No Degree / Certificate and 10 years of non-teaching work-related experience. Demonstrated experience in the area of Precision Agriculture
  • Ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups.
  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Good computer software skills - Microsoft Office Suite-Word, Excel, etc., electronic Calendar and E-mail, and strong Internet familiarity.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's in agriculture field of study
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching in the area relevant to Precision Agriculture
  • College teaching experience.
  • Experience with Blackboard Learning Management System
  • Experience with non-traditional teaching methods such as facilitating group work, use of inquiry-based and other active learning pedagogies, and/or contextualized instruction.
