About The Position

Quad Packaging is seeking a First Shift Pre-press Technician at our Spartanburg, SC location. The ideal candidate will support operational productivity and Company profitability by preparing art files for printing and finishing production processes according to customer and Company specifications. You will work 4-10-hour days from 7 a.m. –5 p.m. Tuesday – Friday. The wage range for this position is between $21 - $27 / hr., depending on experience. About Our Spartanburg, SC Facility Our 82,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art packaging plant serves clients in the medical, pharmaceutical, and well-known liquor and tobacco industries. We operate sheetfed offset and narrow web flexo presses, along with die cutting and custom folding/gluing, supported by advanced inline quality control systems. The facility is bright, climate-controlled, exceptionally clean, and known for its friendly, team-oriented culture. Requirements

  • Associate or Technical Degree required (Bachelor's Degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as Desktop/Mac/Prepress Operator or in a related position required.
  • Intermediate computer skills - Proficiency with Mac OSX and PC operating systems, GMG color proofing, Esko; DeskPack, Esko Automation Engine, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and WebCenter.
  • Ability to use general office equipment (printer, fax machine, copier, etc.) and proofers.
  • Knowledge of printing processes (flexographic, digital, offset) is required.
  • Knowledge of color theory and trapping.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Skill in decision-making and exercise of good judgment.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently multitask.
  • Analyze problems for root causes and determine solutions.
  • Ability to understand, remember, and apply/follow written and verbal instructions, along with communicating routine, factual information.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to others and complete routine, existing forms.
  • Ability to perform tasks with room for personal interpretation; problem-solving involves a supervisor when needed.
  • Ability to count accurately and add, subtract, multiply, and divide numerical data.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare Art Files - Pre-flight customer art files to determine if they are usable.
  • Set up customer art to engineering die lines.
  • Set up bleed and non-printing areas.
  • Prepare art with a correct number of colors and traps according to the type of printing process for the item being run.
  • Prepare final plating files for flexographic printing jobs, stepped files for digital printing jobs, and one-up files for offset printing jobs.
  • Prepare Proofs - Prepare PDF and color proofs for customer approval.
  • Prepare mockups as requested.
  • Troubleshoot Art Files - Review files for potential issues in each printing process.
  • Troubleshoot for color, editing, and retouching.
  • Ensure files meet job specifications and color management expectations; make corrections as needed.
  • Manage Art Files - Correctly label and store customer and Company files.
  • Upload as needed to the web database.
  • Archive as needed.
