About The Position

This position is responsible for the coordination of the entire transplant process from day of referral to time of transplant for potential heart and lung transplant candidates. The Comprehensive Transplant Center and all clinic locations are the point of entry for all transplant customers to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. This position coordinates all potential transplant patient evaluations and is responsible for organizing, collating and guiding the medical/surgical data and pre-operative studies in collaboration with the transplant team. Serves as liaison for transplant team with pulmonologists, cardiologists, consulting services, dietetics, social services and insurance company representatives/case mangers. Develops and conducts educational programs for patients and medical & nursing staff within Ohio and contiguous area. Coordinates and submits statistics to national organizations and government agencies. Assists with development and implementation of new processes/procedures within the program. Participates in Patient Selection Committee and CTC staff meetings on a regular basis. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and acuity of the patients being served. Must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient?s status and formulate an appropriate course of action in collaboration with transplant team.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an approved school of nursing.
  • Current Ohio License.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Prior transplant experience preferred.
  • Current Certified Clinical Transplant Coordinator (CCTC) certification preferred.
  • Flexible, sensitive and adaptable to transplant activities.
