About The Position

The Pre-Litigation Legal Nurse serves as a critical resource for medical expertise within the Pre-Litigation Department, bridging the gap between healthcare and legal processes. This role provides guidance on medical issues, assists in case audits, and supports training initiatives to ensure accurate understanding of treatment guidelines and injury-related aspects. The Pre-Litigation Legal Nurse collaborates with attorneys, case managers, and clients to clarify medical procedures, deliver compassionate support, and maintain high standards of care and compliance. Strong analytical skills, medical knowledge, and attention to detail are essential for success.

Requirements

  • State Licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Medical Records review experience desired
  • 2 or more years of medical experience preferred in one or more of the following: Primary Care, Emergency Room/Urgent Care, Orthopedic or Neurology
  • Teaching ability: desire to share information directly contributes the success of others
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills on the phone, in person and email
  • Advanced Research skills
  • Proven success in meeting expectations as part of a team
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of discretion dealing with confidential information
  • Superb organizational and time management skills; meticulous attention to detail
  • Able to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested by leadership

Responsibilities

  • Advise on cases by providing medical education to team members and clients, ensuring clarity on injuries and treatment plans.
  • Assist clients and teams in understanding case-related injuries, probable treatment, and medical terminology.
  • Review medical and billing records throughout the treatment phase, with familiarity in ICD-10 and CPT-IV coding.
  • Conduct literature reviews using multiple databases for case-related research.
  • Assist with medical writing for internal and external publications and training materials.
  • Design and deliver training, both one-on-one and group sessions, virtual and in-person, while educating employees during orientation and onboarding on essential medical knowledge
  • Communicate with clients to clarify treatment procedures and emphasize their importance.
  • Deliver compassionate support and assistance to clients when needed, ensuring a positive experience.
  • Complete medical assessments
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical and organization processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in multiple software applications.
  • Perform other duties as required to support departmental and organizational success.
