Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years experience in PEMB erection.
  • 2 years crew lead experience in pre-engineered building roof systems.
  • Must be proficient in reading PEMB prints.
  • Knowledgeable in the structural systems and sidewall systems.
  • Must be able/willing to travel to Kalamazoo and the East side of the state when needed.
  • Must have reliable, consistent transportation.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • The following trainings are required (and provided by Wolverine): OSHA 10-Hour certified or completed within six months of hire.
  • Already or willing to become trained in: First Aid and CPR
  • Licensed on equipment
  • Heavy Machinery operator cards for lifts and telehandlers are required.
  • Knowledgeable of crane and telehandler hand signals.

Responsibilities

  • Erects steel columns and makes proper bolt connections between the rafters and columns, ensuring the building frame is square and plum before the siding and roof is started.
  • Per plan, lays out the structural components for installation.
  • Uses metal shears, torches, and welding equipment to cut, bend, and weld steel.
  • Unloads and stacks prefabricated steel so that it can be lifted easily with slings.
  • Directs a crane to lift steel beams, girders, and columns in place.
  • Works within the project timeline and budget.
  • Installs insulation and side wall panels, ensuring proper layout for the installation of windows and doors as well as other equipment.
  • Conducts daily checks of equipment and safe operation procedures.
  • Meets the welding specifications of the blueprint and passes welding inspections.
  • Ensures new employees are familiar with WBG safety procedures and provides training.
  • Cleans work areas, machines, or equipment, to maintain a clean and safe job site.
  • Follows established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean environment.
  • Works as a team player.
