About The Position

The Pre-employment Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will be responsible for conducting pre-employment medical screenings, including drug tests and TB skin tests. This role also involves administrative and clerical duties related to workers' compensation (WC) claims, leaves of absence (FMLA) and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) claims. This position ensures accurate documentation and timely processing of medical and legal paperwork related to pre-employment health and employee accommodations.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program.
  • Current and unrestricted LPN license in the state of employment.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to FMLA, WC and ADA.
  • Strong documentation and clerical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Proficiency with standard office software.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in occupational health, human resources, or medical office setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administer drug and alcohol screenings and TB skin tests for new hires, following all required protocols and maintaining strict chain of custody for all samples.
  • Document all screening results and health information accurately and maintain secure and confidential employee medical records in compliance with HIPAA and other privacy regulations.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding new WC claims.
  • Assist in collecting and documenting initial information about workplace injuries.
  • Coordinate with healthcare providers, insurance carriers, and legal representatives to facilitate claim resolution.
  • Maintain detailed records of all claim activities, including medical reports, bills, and correspondence.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal WC regulations.
  • Help manage the interactive process for employees requesting accommodations.
  • Assist in collecting required medical information and disability verification forms.
  • Coordinate with managers, HR, and the employee to support the development of reasonable accommodation plans.
  • Maintain confidential documentation related to ADA claims and accommodations.
  • Oversee all aspects of the FMLA and other leaves of absence.
  • Communicate with management and employees about eligibility and requirements.
  • Manages the leave administration process from the employee’s initial notice of the need for leave to return to work. This includes gathering and completing all required paperwork, determining leave eligibility, designating leave as FMLA-qualifying, requesting medical certification as needed, and accounting for intermittent and reduced schedule leave use.
  • Handle clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, managing calls, and maintaining inventories of medical supplies.
