About The Position

As the Pre-Certification Registration Clerk, you will be a vital member of a dynamic team responsible for greeting and interviewing patients/patient representatives to gather and record demographics, insurance, and other information for providers of care. Collecting co-pays on a per visit basis for outpatient Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and SLP services. Under the general direction and supervision of the Physical Medicine Director, will perform insurance pre-certification duties, registration and reception duties. Performs all scheduling as directly related to Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and SLP outpatient services.

Requirements

  • High school graduate, or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year clerical experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Experience with computer-based scheduling and billing system as well as Microsoft Office Products: Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to perform clerical detail and maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning patient information and hospital matters.
  • Ability to deal with the public in a courteous, efficient, empathetic manner. Experience handling young, elderly, sick or handicapped people.
  • Skillful use of arms, eyes, hands, fingers.
  • Knowledge of rule of patient care and management.
  • Ability to work in team situations.
  • Good physical and mental health.
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to be multi-task oriented.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree in Secretarial Sciences or equivalent is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs registration and scheduling of patients for the Physical Medicine Department.
  • Responsibly and efficiently performs clerical duties related to pre-certifications, recertifications, and insurance authorizations.
  • Performs daily billing/charge entry with responsibility for auditing charges to ensure accuracy.
  • Keeps current on changes in Medicare, welfare, and all other insurance policies.
  • Performs monthly Medicaid EDS verifications and reports.
  • Co-pay collection.
  • Performs other related clerical duties.
