POSITION REQUIRES PERIODIC TRAVEL TO ALL OF OUR DENTAL LOCATIONS. Primarily based in Uniontown PA, but must also regularly visit West Mifflin and Waynesburg sites along with the balance of the sites on an as needed basis. The Dental Practice Manager is a key leadership role responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the dental operations in the health center. This position ensures the delivery of efficient, high-quality patient care through effective supervision of clinical and administrative support services. The Practice Manager will work closely with clinical leaders, staff, and external partners to maintain compliance, improve patient outcomes, and foster a positive and productive work environment.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent, required, advanced degree, preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in healthcare, preferably in a community health center or similar setting. Prefer Medical/Dental Assistant or similar type of experience and/or training.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of medica/dental practice operations, including electronic health record (E/DHR) systems, billing, and regulatory compliance.
  • Commitment to health equity and serving underserved populations.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a positive, professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees day-to-day dental clinic operations to ensure efficient patient flow, scheduling, and service delivery.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors policies and procedures aligned with FQHC, HRSA, and organizational standards.
  • Ensures adequate staffing coverage, room utilization, and provider productivity.
  • Monitors clinic performance metrics, including access, no-show rates, encounter volume, and cycle time.
  • Oversees dental billing, coding, and collections in coordination with the billing department.
  • Ensures accurate documentation and compliance with Medicaid, Medicare, and managed care requirements.
  • Monitors dental department budgets, expenses, and revenue performance.
  • Assists with sliding fee discount program implementation and compliance.
  • Analyzes financial reports and recommend strategies to improve financial performance.
  • Ensures compliance with HRSA program requirements, FTCA risk management, OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards.
  • Supports dental-related audits, site visits, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintains readiness for accreditation and regulatory reviews.
  • Monitors quality indicators and patient satisfaction metrics; implement improvement plans as needed.
  • Supervises dental support staff, including dental assistants, hygienists, and front office staff.
  • Participates in recruitment, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, and corrective actions.
  • Promotes a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Coordinates staff schedules, timekeeping, and leave requests.
  • Collaborates with the Dental Director to support provider productivity and clinical best practices.
  • Ensures availability and maintenance of dental equipment, supplies, and instruments.
  • Coordinates with medical, behavioral health, and enabling services to support integrated care.
  • Addresses patient concerns, complaints, and service recovery in a timely and professional manner.
  • Tracks and reports dental data for UDS, quality metrics, and internal performance dashboards.
  • Assists leadership with planning, program development, and service expansion initiatives.
  • Supports grant reporting and documentation related to dental services.
  • Participates in leadership meetings and organizational committees as assigned.
