About The Position

At DMU you will make a meaningful contribution to the dynamic future of Medicine and Health Sciences. DMU is seeking a Primary Care Manager who will oversee the operations of the Primary Care Clinic, including Family Medicine, Osteopathic Manual Medicine (OMM), and any future service lines. This role is responsible for program development and strategy implementation, financial management, quality improvement, clinical excellence, patient and family experience, community outreach, partnership relations, and advocacy. The Primary Care Manager ensures efficient clinic operations, high-quality patient care, and alignment with the University’s broader health enterprise, including the Multi-Specialty Clinic, Student Health Center, and the MidAmerican RecPlex.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration, Nursing, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of operational healthcare experience with proven understanding of clinical operations.
  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, or Osteopathic Manual Medicine preferred.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Iowa is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of strategic initiatives and programs within the Primary Care Clinic.
  • Oversee financial management, including budgeting, cost control, and resource allocation.
  • Integrate and coordinate clinical operations for Family Medicine, OMM, and new service lines as they are added.
  • Collaborate with the Primary Care Department Chair and other University clinical leaders to ensure seamless operations across the University’s health enterprise.
  • Ensure clinic staffing needs are met, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management.
  • Foster partnerships with public health agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders to improve community health and patient access.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives, monitor clinical outcomes, and support clinical excellence.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities for direct reports in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to interviewing and/or motivating and/or training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
