About The Position

Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with over 900 lawyers across the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. We are looking for a Practice Innovation Coordinator in the Information Technology department, reporting to the Innovation and AI Manager. The role can reside in the Dallas, New York or Washington, DC office with hybrid capabilities. As the legal industry continues to evolve, the firm is investing in AI, automation, and next‑generation technologies to modernize how legal services are delivered and to enhance value for clients. The Coordinator will be an integral part of the Practice Technology & Innovation team, bridging the gap between high-level strategy and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience desired, such as previous paralegal or legal operations work.
  • Demonstrated, substantial hands‑on experience with the full Microsoft 365 suite—including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive—with the ability to confidently use Teams channels, chat, file collaboration, and SharePoint‑based content management as part of daily operational workflows
  • Strong organization, structured thinking, and attention to detail.
  • Clear written communication and ability to turn rough notes into well‑structured materials.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Comfort working with attorneys and business services professionals.
  • Familiarity with law firm operations or legal workflows.
  • Basic exposure to data tracking or reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building custom Power Automate flows, Power Apps, or designing SharePoint sites to support operational workflows.
  • Experience creating or maintaining custom generative AI agents for internal or practice‑specific use cases.
  • Familiarity with NetDocuments or similar document management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Update internal announcements, postings, and reference pages to reflect current tools, processes, and initiatives.
  • Coordinate content reviews with Innovation team members to ensure accuracy and appropriate approvals.
  • Monitor shared Innovation communications channels and route or respond to routine inquiries.
  • Support creation of marketing collateral related to broad Innovation initiatives and practice group-specific projects.
  • Prepare materials for internal briefings, practice group meetings, and training sessions.
  • Draft and update internal slide decks, one‑pagers, newsletters, and announcements.
  • Identify outdated files and work with a supervisor and collateral owner(s) to bring materials up to date.
  • Document key Innovation processes (e.g., intake, assessments, training, pilots).
  • Create and maintain SOPs, templates, checklists, and process guides.
  • Support upkeep of internal knowledge materials for firm‑approved AI and technology tools.
  • Organize and maintain Innovation document libraries (Teams, SharePoint, NetDocuments).
  • Coordinate scheduling, updates, and routine follow‑ups to keep project work moving.
  • Track decisions, open items, and next steps across Innovation workstreams on select projects.
  • May include: Structured note taking during meetings, interviews, demos, and workshops. Drafting post‑meeting communications like action items and follow‑ups.
  • Test emerging technology features ahead of interactive demos with Innovation team or practice groups, e.g. Power Automate flows, building custom agents, building or testing custom workflows and apps, etc.
  • Assist with minor updates to existing automation or workflows under guidance.
  • Collect and maintain basic usage, adoption, and activity metrics.
  • Prepare simple summary reports and dashboards using established tools.
  • Track pilots, training activity, and high‑level performance indicators.
  • Other duties as assigned
