About The Position

Nelson Mullins, an AmLaw 60 firm, is seeking a Practice Assistant to support its business immigration practice in our Atlanta office. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and experience handling employment-based immigration matters. This includes preparing H-1B, L-1, E, and TN visa petitions, I-140 immigrant petitions, and Adjustment of Status (AOS) applications. Korean fluency is required to support communication with clients and review of Korean-language documentation. Tasks performed may include assisting with employment-based cases, as well as some family-based and naturalization cases. Responsibilities include drafting forms and support letters for review by attorneys and senior team members; preparing petition and application packages for final review and signature by attorneys before submission to government agencies; organizing and maintaining accurate records in immigration case management systems for all assigned matters; reviewing intake documentation for specific case types to ensure accuracy and completeness; and performing statutory, regulatory, case law, and public records research, when necessary, to understand the legal requirements that apply to specific cases. With more than 1,000 attorneys, policy advisors, e-discovery professionals, and other business professionals across offices in California, Colorado, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, West Virginia, and throughout North Carolina and South Carolina, Nelson Mullins has strong roots in the business community and an appreciation for new directions in the business world.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Experience handling employment-based immigration matters
  • Experience preparing H-1B, L-1, E, and TN visa petitions, I-140 immigrant petitions, and Adjustment of Status (AOS) applications
  • Excellent case management and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with technology
  • Strong communication and writing abilities with close attention to detail
  • Experience preparing responses to both nonimmigrant (NIV) and immigrant (IV) Requests for Evidence (RFEs)
  • Korean fluency is required to support direct communication with clients and the review of Korean-language documentation

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Immigration Tracker, INSZoom, or similar immigration case management software
  • A paralegal certification or a degree from an accredited college or university
