Reports to the Practice Manager or Ambulatory Practice Coordinator, with input from assigned physician, nurses, or other health care providers. This role is responsible for delivering the highest quality service to patients while contributing to the smooth functioning of practice operations. Key duties include greeting patients and visitors with courtesy and respect, serving as a central communication source, diffusing challenging situations, and maintaining patient confidentiality. The assistant performs check-in, registration, scheduling, and demographic information verification according to APG policies. They utilize computer systems for patient registration, schedule and manage appointments, obtain and enter referrals, and collect co-pays. The role also involves monitoring patient and visitor flow, acting as a liaison between patients and staff, maintaining a clean and welcoming reception area, managing signage, and ensuring appropriate audio/visual programming. Additionally, the assistant contacts relevant departments for repairs and services and ensures translation services are provided for Spanish-speaking patients and employees when needed.
