About The Position

Your Role As the Public Relations Manager for our Houston office, you will work closely with the Regional PR Director and South Central PR team. You will be responsible for media relations, thought leadership content and speaking event management. What You Will Do Media Relations Field press inquiries for the market, coordinating with Regional PR Director on any regional or national opportunities Read and monitor local publications and follow target reporters on social media for quick-turn story opportunities Pitch stories to local media; attend events to greet reporters as needed, after/before work hours or on weekends on occasion Research new reporters and outlets; meet with new reporters to help educate them about projects and Gensler in general Identify story opportunities for office groups such as Community Impact and Houston Inclusion Committee Develop media materials which include press releases, fact sheets, FAQ documents, talking points and news alerts Media train and prep team members participating in interview opportunities Work with Regional PR Director to develop project announcement communication plans for projects; work in tandem with client partners Track, record and upload weekly press clippings to the intranet, double checking for inclusion in firmwide reports, such as This Week at Gensler, and analyze trends, impressions and ad equivalency value for inclusion in office/regional reports Thought Leadership Research and log community and industry organization events and speaking opportunities for the consideration of office leader and designer participation Work with designers to prepare speaking proposals for desired opportunities Meet with office leaders, studio leaders and practice area leaders and designers regularly to learn about projects and public relations opportunities Research and write contributed articles in partnership with designers for both external outlets and internal ones, i.e. Dialogue blog Awards & Social Media Collaborate with PR Specialist to identify relevant awards opportunities Attend Design Director quarterly meeting to review submissions Work with PR Specialist and project team members to edit submissions Collaborate with office Social Media Champion to brainstorm ideas for content and campaigns Photography and Videography Participate in annual photography planning. Work closely with Regional Photography Coordinator and Videographer to join shoots as needed Event Coordination Collaborate with marketing team to plan and staff events for the office, which include client and industry-related panels and roundtables, Firmwide events (Design Forecast local), office celebrations (Appointments Day, Bonus Day, Holidays, Anniversaries) Management Oversee development and day to day management of PR Specialists

Requirements

  • 10+ years professional experience in a PR and/or Marketing position
  • Superior written and verbal communications skills – should be a person who can tell the firm’s story as eloquently as very experienced firm leaders
  • Well-versed in PR risk issues and developing scenarios to help firm leaders make decisions
  • Confident, able to communicate and work with all levels of Gensler staff, clients, and external parties
  • Good organization skills and attention to details; ability to prioritize, work to tight deadlines, and remain calm under pressure
  • Relationship builder, integrator, and connector within office, region, firm, industry; seeks meaningful partnerships that align with Gensler’s strategic objectives

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop is preferred
