About The Position

Orange Sky supports Australians facing challenges like homelessness, financial hardship, or displacement by offering free laundry services, warm showers, and friendly chats. The Marketing Team shares stories, builds awareness, and grows community support. This role is for a creative, proactive, and media-savvy PR and Content Coordinator who will be the engine room of storytelling. Reporting to the PR & Content Manager, the coordinator will find and share stories across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand, pitching to national news, capturing content on the ground with service users ("friends"), and ensuring ethical consent processes are followed. This position is vital for elevating the Orange Sky brand and mission.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in PR, communications, or marketing.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage media relations and content workflows.
  • Proactive problem-solver.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for incoming media enquiries and proactively reach out to journalists, sharing stories of connection, resilience, homelessness, and hardship.
  • Lead the creation of press releases and pitches.
  • Prepare talent for interviews.
  • Build lasting relationships with media contacts.
  • Monitor earned media and report on metrics to understand impact and refine strategy.
  • Manage the end-to-end content production workflow, including ideation, management of videographers and photographers, interviewing talent, and final editing.
  • Capture and showcase real human stories of Orange Sky and its impact.
  • Tailor content to suit different platforms and audiences while maintaining a consistent Orange Sky tone.
  • Guard the ethical consent process, ensuring stories are told with dignity, respect, and informed permission.
  • Work across the Marketing team to support the delivery of fundraising, volunteer, and brand campaigns.
  • Draft campaign key messages.
  • Review copy for support EDMs.
  • Provide brand advice to internal stakeholders, ensuring collateral aligns with visual identity and strategic goals.
