Ensure successful completion of all mission operations in accordance with established policies and management goals regarding funding, storage, workload, manpower capability, component, issue, equipment items, and inventory control procedures. Performs employee discipline counseling, employee performance reviews, and other personnel reporting. Reviews and approves timesheets. Screen applicants and conducts interviews for open position. Ensures all employees observe policy, procedures and regulatory guidance for safety and physical security, and monitors for compliance Reviews, monitors, verify and inputs data from numerous types of documents, i.e., Government Bills of Lading (GBL), transportation control/movement documents, applications for shipment and/or storage of personal property or storage-in-transit (S.I.T.). Directs DOD assigned carriers to place property in storage in accordance with regulatory guidelines and the Joint Federal Travel Regulation (JFTR). Maintain suspense log on all property in storage in area of responsibility for JPPSO. When a member's entitlement to storage at government expense nears expiration, notifies the member in writing, and advises that storage costs will revert to member's responsibility or arrange for delivery. Reviews carriers clearing information and compares with information previously input into DPS and TOPS to insure complete and proper shipment is processed. Screens documents for discrepancies, such as mis consignments, incomplete information, etc., and takes appropriate action to correct discrepancies. Initiates tracer actions for short, missing or overflow (split) shipments, through telephone calls and messages to transportation offices and carriers to determine the status of shipment. Keep all lines of communication open with the service member on the status of their HHG shipment. If a member has a problem during delivery, advises them on actions to take in recording loss and/or damage on commercial and government shipping documents, where to go, and what is required to initiate a claim for loss/damage incurred during the move. Assists and advises service members in helping them determine when delivery would be suitable. Advises of alternatives and assists members in solving potential problems in arranging for delivery of property. Receives telephone calls and refers them to the proper person or furnishes requested information in accordance with regulatory guidelines. Maintains and stores a variety of files and records. Receives carriers billing for services rendered, pulls files in order for carrier billing to be verified for services rendered before forwarding to Defense Finance and Accounting Services for payment to contractor. Supervises the direct Procurement Method (DPM) Program was established to manage the shipment of domestic household goods, international-household goods, and unaccompanied baggage shipments using Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)-based government contracts. Upon request of personal property shipping offices (PPSOs), DPM contracts are solicited and awarded through a local Contracting Office. DPM contracts are administered by local PPSOs and include packing, containerization, local drayage, delivery, unpacking, storage and related services for personal property shipments. DPM contracts provide PPSOs a comprehensive movement process for worldwide movement of small shipments and larger shipments to specific overseas locations where other modes of shipment are not authorized.
