About The Position

We made history and now we work to transform the future – for our customers, our communities and our families. You'll see your work on the road every day, helping people move freely and pursue their dreams. At Ford, you can build more than vehicles. Come build what matters. As part of our Manufacturing team, you’ll help build the world-class, state-of-the-art smart vehicles we're known for. In our plants around the world, we’re constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our efficiency. You'll get the satisfaction of making great products people use and love. This position provides an exciting opportunity to lead the digital transformation within Powertrain Manufacturing Engineering (PTME). As a Digital Assembly Engineer, you will be the "Digital Thread" that connects PTME to the Plant floor. The primary objective is to break down traditional engineering silos by facilitating iterative, virtual assembly simulations that ensure every manufacturing station is validated and optimized before physical implementation. You will lead the collaborative effort to ensure our workstations pass their Digital Job 1.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing preferred).
  • Proficiency in Siemens Teamcenter , Vis Mockup , and Process Simulate (Tecnomatix).
  • Experience in a Manufacturing or Launch environment.

Nice To Haves

  • The "Collaborative Mindset": Proven ability to lead meetings, manage conflict between competing engineering priorities, and drive groups toward a shared solution.
  • Technical Mastery: Practical experience with 3D modeling (CATIA or similar), Ergonomic analysis tools, and Discrete Event Simulation (DES).
  • Problem Solving: Ability to identify complex assembly issues in a virtual environment and develop creative, cost-effective engineering solutions.
  • Resilience: Ability to remain effective and proactive in times of ambiguity and rapid technological change.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex digital data to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Travel: Ability to travel to plant locations as required (mainly North America) to support physical validation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the 3D Cycle Line Layout Meeting: Facilitate weekly cross-functional virtual working level meetings. Use 3D simulations to drive collaborative discussions between Process, Product, IE, Ergo, Layout, MP&L, and Safety to reach consensus-based resolutions.
  • Drive Iterative Workstation Development: Lead the digital assessment and 3D modeling of manual and semi-automated workstations (including product, process, layout, dynamic human modeling, part delivery racks, and tooling) from concept ( uPSC ) through final validation ( uDC ).
  • Execute Virtual Kaizens: Champion the digital milestone reviews and Virtual Build Events. Ensure all stations meet the rigorous standards for tooling clearance, operator ergonomics, and material flow before "Digital Job 1."
  • Initialize the Digital Twin: Build and maintain Digital Twins in Siemens Teamcenter, ensuring the virtual environment accurately reflects design-intent data and facility constraints.
  • Advanced Process Simulation: Perform complex 3D simulations involving dynamic humans, machines, and robots to identify bottlenecks, pinch points, and clearance issues early in the design phase.
  • Cross-Functional Integration: Act as the primary interface between diverse engineering workstreams to ensure manufacturing strategies are holistic, functional, and optimized for the plant environment.
  • Technology Advocacy: Utilize and drive the adoption of new technologies, including Virtual Reality and advanced simulation software (e.g., VET tool suite & IC.IDO for flexible part simulation).
  • Continuous Improvement: Support the development of global digital engineering methods and standards, helping to move the organization toward a centralized Center of Excellence model.
  • Launch Support: Transition from the virtual world to the physical world by supporting on-site launches, resolving issues identified during the digital phase, and validating that the physical build matches the digital twin.
