About The Position

Powerhouse teachers teach and lead a group of students Monday through Friday. They follow the curriculum to ensure high quality implementation of the ten-month, biblical, and Character-based curriculum that focuses on daily devotionals and object lessons. Reports to Site Director.

Requirements

  • Highschool diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must meet or exceed state licensing requirements for age, education, and experience. Previous childcare experience in a licensed facility is preferred.
  • Have obtained or willing to obtain 15 hours of Early Childhood Education within the first 6 months of position.
  • Working knowledge of Texas State Minimum Standards as it pertains to the operation of the facility.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • CPR certification.
  • Able to repeatedly bend, stoop and run; must be able to lift and carry a child if a situation presents itself.
  • Commitment to continual growth in personal spiritual life and relationship with Christ
  • Support the vision, values and ministry of Powerhouse and Oaks Church
  • Proactive thinking and willing to learn and train others.
  • Model a Godly life for volunteers, students, and other staff.
  • Be teachable with a humble and submissive attitude.
  • Maintain all information confidential (about staff, projects, property, members, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a state licensed childcare or church setting strongly recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that students are safe, having fun, and learning more about Jesus.
  • Provide excellent supervision of students in accordance with state regulations.
  • Follow the provided schedule adhering to state regulations.
  • Execute devotionals with students in a fun and effective manner.
  • Oversee and implement special classroom events.
  • Verify daily students’ attendance.
  • Implement and maintain classroom discipline procedures.
  • Use positive guidance techniques.
  • Observe, record, and report to the supervisor any significant behavior of children or staff that does not line up with program standards, policies, or procedures.
  • Actively participate in program events.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and safe environment in the classroom.
  • Prepare any needed parent communication (i.e. tallies and positive referrals).
  • Implement appropriate emergency procedures.
  • Administer CPR/First Aid when needed.
  • Ensure that children are using equipment in an appropriate manner.
