About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Powerhouse Maintenance Technician to join our manufacturing team in Syracuse, New York. This role is essential for ensuring the reliable operation of powerhouse systems, including steam boilers, air compressors, and associated equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maintenance and repair within a powerhouse environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Powerhouse Technician, specifically in the repair of steam boilers, air compressors, complex electrical equipment, automatic boiler controls, pumps, motors, and pressurized piping systems.
  • Must currently reside within 50 miles of the Syracuse facility.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to mechanical equipment effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 full-time years of experience in a powerhouse technician role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience with steam boilers, air compressors, complex electrical equipment, automatic boiler controls, pumps, motors, and power-generating equipment.
  • Familiarity with pressurized piping systems, including water, steam, oil, compressed air, and natural gas.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform maintenance and repairs safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute all required operations to install, maintain, and repair steam boilers, air compressors, complex electrical equipment, automatic boiler controls, pumps, motors, and power-generating equipment.
  • Perform necessary chemical tests to ensure proper maintenance of boilers and associated equipment.
  • Tear down complicated units, assess issues, repair or replace defective parts or wiring, and reassemble equipment as needed.
  • Utilize hand tools and pipe fitting machinery to bend, thread, and cut pipe; use a torch to sweat copper joints and solder as required.
  • Install and maintain high-pressure steam stations throughout the facility, including steam lines, traps, strainers, regulators, valves, and insulation.
  • Troubleshoot powerhouse equipment to isolate problems and repair both analog and digital control systems as necessary.
  • Identify common symbols on mechanical drawings and follow electrical and plumbing diagrams to complete tasks accurately.
  • Enter and edit time schedule data using the energy management system.
