About The Position

The T&D Superintendent is responsible for overseeing field operations on assigned construction projects to ensure safe, timely, and profitable completion. This role includes planning, organizing, and supervising specific portions of construction work, particularly related to Transmission & Distribution (T&D) systems.

Requirements

  • Education & Experience (one of the following is required): Bachelor’s Degree + 7 years of construction management or craft supervision on T&D projects, Associate Degree + 9 years of construction management or craft supervision on T&D projects, High School Diploma/GED + 11 years of construction management or craft supervision on T&D projects
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong safety background with demonstrated commitment to safe jobsite practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Must meet company driving requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate all field operations on assigned projects.
  • Ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective completion of all construction activities.
  • Plan, schedule, and supervise T&D-related construction work in designated project areas.
  • Maintain job continuity and maximize field productivity and efficiency.
  • Provide direct oversight for the following project activities: High voltage transmission lines, Transmission line steel and wood structures, Drilled piers and spread footings, Grounding and environmental compliance, Substation equipment, structures, electrical systems, and controls
  • Ensure subcontractors meet construction schedules and contractual obligations.
  • Supervise construction efforts across: Safety and craft productivity, Materials management and equipment efficiency, Project scheduling and engineering coordination, Contract performance compliance
  • Enforce subcontractor compliance with all T&D-related requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with project management to implement procedures and standards.
  • Approve purchase requisitions, field design changes, etc., under the supervision of the Construction and Project Managers.
  • Drive overall site safety; regularly audit Pre-Task Analyses (PTAs) and Task Safety Observations (TSOs).
  • Complete daily field reports and maintain photographic documentation of project progress.
  • Evaluate upcoming work using subcontractors’ 3-week look-ahead schedules.
  • Mark up and maintain as-built drawings; assist with RFIs when needed.
  • Direct subcontractors to ensure adherence to project schedules; track progress via quantities and work hours.
  • Confirm proper material delivery, storage, and maintenance; coordinate with the Materials Manager as needed.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC Manager to verify welder qualifications.
  • Witness all equipment setting and alignment activities.
  • Conduct walk-downs during hydrostatic testing; sign off on system testing and restoration.
  • Develop and manage punch lists for incomplete or non-compliant items.
  • Ensure field teams use the most current drawing revisions.
  • Manage and implement scope changes and field change orders.
  • Oversee on-site craft supervision and staffing needs.
  • Manage site-level tools and materials inventory.
  • Ensure daily field construction aligns with company policies, procedures, and project requirements.
  • Supervise all field activities and subcontractor efforts to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and codes.
  • Interpret and work from isometric drawings, structural drawings, and P&IDs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all company policies and standards.
