As our Power System Operations Engineer I , you will be part of MISO’s Real Time Operations group…where the “rubber meets the road.” Our operators and engineers work collaboratively to make complex and quick decisions. This team coordinates the use of the transmission system by ensuring flows stay within prescribed limits and partners with transmission operators and neighboring reliability coordinators to maintain reliability. This position will be an Engineer in Reserve position where you will have the opportunity to train and hone your skills until you qualify and a shift position opens. You will also be responsible for learning how to maintain the accuracy and availability of one of the most important Energy Management Systems (EMS) in the Eastern Interconnection. You will train to be able to monitor inputs from ICCP, SCADA into the State Estimator. Your training will teach you how to obtain accurate contingency analysis study results. You will provide study results that assist in making MISO the most reliable, value-creating RTO. You will have the opportunity to participate in projects that lead the way for the operations of the future. In one year as our Power System Operations Engineer I, you will know you were successful if you developed familiarity with the MISO footprint, built foundational expertise in maintaining the EMS and its inputs, can carry discussions about operations processes, and have established relationships with operators and external/internal stakeholders.
