About The Position

The Power Plant Technician is responsible for acquiring basic operational knowledge of all plant systems and performing equipment operation within specified parameters and environmental regulations. This role works under the direction of skilled Plant Technicians and is tasked with continuously learning the proper function and maintenance of equipment at a Gas Plant within the Gas fleet. The technician is expected to promote safe, effective, and reliable plant operation. The position involves assisting with and performing troubleshooting, preventive and corrective maintenance, daily maintenance, construction, demolition, overhauls, repair/replacement, and removal/installation of plant equipment and structures. It also includes providing skills for maintaining plant equipment, performing clearances in LOTOV under supervision, and utilizing various tools. Maintaining knowledge of electronic control systems and computers, along with strict adherence to safety and environmental procedures, is crucial.

Requirements

  • 2 -4 years of related experience.
  • Ability to report to site within 60 minutes following call-ins.
  • Satisfactory completion of Tier 1 job performance measures composed of basic: Operations, Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrument and Controls.
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
  • If applicable, candidate will hold the required level of state license as recognized by the governing body of that particular state (MA, OH).
  • Demonstrate standard computer based skills.
  • Demonstrate effective oral & verbal communications skills.
  • If applicable, candidate must meet the requirement of PT1-E.
  • Must pass POSS/MASS exam to be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Required duties depend upon the particular field requiring skills for advancement.
  • Assisting/performing troubleshooting of plant equipment, preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure proper functioning, daily maintenance, construction, demolition, overhauls, repair /replacement and removal/installation of plant equipment and structures.
  • Provides skills for maintaining equipment at the plant.
  • Perform clearances in LOTOV under the direction of a senior operator or supervisor.
  • Utilizes/operates various types of hand, power, precision or machine tools necessary to support safe and productive work environments.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all electronic control systems and computers.
  • Understands and follows current safety and environmental regulations necessary to conduct all phases of work.
  • Ensures strict adherence to safety, health and environmental procedures as they relate to plant operations and maintenance including but not limited to Lockout Tagout, Job Safety Analysis, Confined Space, Hot Work, Electrical Safety and PPE.
  • Progression of skill within primary skill set.
  • Satisfactory completion of Tier 2 job performance measures predominately composed of Sign-offs of demonstrating different primary and auxiliary system operations and maintenance relevant to primary skill.
  • Demonstrate continual self improvement in job skills and knowledge.
