About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Power Plant Superintendent, this position performs as a skilled Power Plant Operator for the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King (WVHK). The incumbent maintains and operates high-pressure steam boilers and related equipment, including a 1 mw diesel-fueled power generator, air compressors, reverse osmosis (R.O.) units and water softeners, feed water pumps, chemical feed pumps and condensate return systems. The position operates and maintains a chilled water system and related equipment, including an 860-ton and an 890-ton Trane Cen-Tra-Vac centrifugal chiller, variable frequency drive pumps, tower pumps, chilled water circulation pumps, and chemical feed systems; monitors the operational status of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system and well computers; and prepares plant operational logs to be reviewed by the Power Plant Superintendent. The incumbent performs all tasks in compliance with Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, and federal, state and agency rules and policies.

Requirements

  • Experience performing general maintenance and repairs in an industrial facility.
