About The Position

Seeking a team member that is committed to the mission of the central heating plant to provide the entire campus with a constant supply of steam in the most efficient, reliable, and safest way possible. Job summary: monitors, operates, adjusts, maintains, and repairs a variety of technical equipment for the campus central heating plant.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of boiler operation.
  • Basic knowledge of valves, pumps, compressors, fans, and piping systems.
  • Mechanical aptitude including the use of common hand tools.

  • Boiler operation and maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures safe and efficient operation of the plant and its associated equipment
  • May work without direct supervision on shift operations
  • Complies with environmental protection protocols and procedures
  • Adheres to safety protocols and procedures
  • Analyzes data and communicates recommendations on equipment and systems operations, both verbally and in written reports
  • Maintains forms, logs, or reports
  • Starts, stops, and adjusts equipment settings to maintain operational requirements
  • Cleans and maintains work areas and equipment
  • Makes regular inspections of plant equipment and prepares equipment malfunction reports
  • Assists in the training and oversight of new employees in these and other safe and efficient plant operational procedures
  • Assists with preventative and corrective maintenance as needed
