About The Position

Power Plant Operator II Texas Behavioral Health Center Join our team and help launch the first state psychiatric hospital in Dallas-Fort Worth, where innovative caregivers will make a lasting impact on behavioral health in Texas. The Texas Behavioral Health Center is a newly completed state-funded psychiatric hospital opening in Dallas’ Southwestern Medical District that is owned by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and operated by UT Southwestern Medical Center. When fully operational, the 505,000-square-foot facility will house 292 beds – 200 for adult patients and 92 for children and adolescents. As DFW’s first state-funded behavioral health hospital, it is designed to deliver state-of-the-art, patient-centered care in a modern and healing environment. The center provides comprehensive behavioral health treatment and features private patient rooms, abundant access to natural light and nature, and thoughtfully designed spaces that promote recovery. The hospital will also provide training to all behavioral health disciplines. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of experience in Thermal Power plant operations maintaining chillers, boilers, water treatment and BAS
  • May consider additional related education in lieu of experience (each year completed from a related plant operator higher education training program may be substituted for a year of required experience; this includes related vocational or trade school).

Responsibilities

  • Starts up, shuts down, and adjusts power plant and/or chilling station equipment or systems in accordance with established operational and safety procedures.
  • Cleans and maintains equipment and work areas. Monitors equipment and maintains records of equipment operational status.
  • Modifies and changes graphics as systems change and are upgraded.
  • Operates control computer systems. Recognize and identifies issues, troubleshoots and analyzes problems based on equipment operation records.
  • Performs detailed inspections of operating equipment for proper operation.
  • Informs appropriate personnel of unusual conditions, problems or deficiencies.
  • Identifies and reports safety hazards and equipment malfunctions.
  • Supervises support staff as needed. Attends meetings and training courses. Trains new personnel as required.
  • May perform preventative or corrective maintenance tasks to operation of mechanical or electrical systems.
  • May complete work orders using automated maintenance program systems.
  • Able to work with contractors on projects and other maintenance activities in the plant.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
