About The Position

Join our team and help launch the first state psychiatric hospital in Dallas-Fort Worth, where innovative caregivers will make a lasting impact on behavioral health in Texas. The Texas Behavioral Health Center is a newly completed state-funded psychiatric hospital opening in Dallas’ Southwestern Medical District that is owned by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and operated by UT Southwestern Medical Center. When fully operational, the 505,000-square-foot facility will house 292 beds – 200 for adult patients and 92 for children and adolescents. As DFW’s first state-funded behavioral health hospital, it is designed to deliver state-of-the-art, patient-centered care in a modern and healing environment. The center provides comprehensive behavioral health treatment and features private patient rooms, abundant access to natural light and nature, and thoughtfully designed spaces that promote recovery. The hospital will also provide training to all behavioral health disciplines. JOB SUMMARY Works under close supervision to perform semi-skilled level operation and maintenance of equipment and machinery in central plant environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of semi-skilled level experience in operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, or industrial equipment.
  • May consider additional related education in lieu of experience (each year completed from a related plant operator higher education training program may be substituted for a year of required experience; this includes related vocational or trade school).

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of certified operator program and experience in university physical plant environment.

Responsibilities

  • Starts up, shuts down, and adjusts power plant and/or chilling station equipment or systems in accordance with established operational and safety procedures.
  • Monitors equipment and maintains records of equipment operational status.
  • Cleans and maintains equipment and work areas.
  • Operates control computer systems.
  • Performs detailed inspections of operating equipment for proper operation.
  • Informs appropriate personnel of unusual conditions, problems, or deficiencies.
  • Identifies and reports safety hazards and equipment malfunctions.
  • Attends meetings and training courses.
  • Trains new personnel as required.
  • May perform preventative or corrective maintenance tasks incidental to operation of mechanical or electrical systems.
  • May complete work orders using automated maintenance program systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
