About The Position

The Power-Electromechanical Systems Engineer will have the opportunity to play a key role in developing innovative solutions and be involved in all aspects of Systems Engineering to support L3Harris Maritime Power Systems. In this role, the successful candidate will gain experience in working on all phases of a project and be responsible for delivering integrated and industry leading power solutions. The purpose of the power-electromechanical systems engineer is to coordinate system level requirements and ensure that technical obligations are fulfilled. The Power-Electromechanical Systems Engineer also manages complex projects or processes with general oversight. Communicates within and outside of own function to gain cooperation on operational processes, practices, and procedures. Makes moderate to substantial improvements to systems and processes. Contributes to achievement of departmental goals and operating plans with direct impact on the departmental results.

Requirements

  • Bachelors and minimum 6 years prior experience or Masters Degree and a minimum of 4 years experience in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Up to date on current Systems Engineering trends, technology, and tools (including DOORS and JIRA) and be able to contribute to improvements and tailoring of current Systems Engineering Processes.
  • Experience developing and maintaining Systems Engineering design, validation and qualification processes.
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplined engineering group to achieve results.
  • Complete understanding of system engineering principles including requirements writing, modeling, and verification testing.
  • Proven track record of working through customer requirements to technical requirements to product solutions.
  • Working knowledge of standard system engineering processes such as: MIL-STD-499, EIA-632, IEEE 1220 or ISO 15288.
  • Knowledge of systems utilizing embedded software.
  • Technical writing skills and experience generating and presenting technical documents to internal and external customers.
  • U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET clearance.

  • Strong ability to communicate at different levels depending upon target audience. Examples include technical presentations to current customers as well as defense of proposals for future business.

Responsibilities

  • Leading, coordinating, and integrating technical aspects of an assigned project.
  • Coordinate system level requirements internally and among subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Support evaluating, planning, and estimation of tasks.
  • Generate design review materials and communicate design decisions.
  • Adhere to budget and schedule commitments.
  • Capable of providing technical supervision and training/mentoring to lower level engineers.
  • Develop Subsystem architecture block Diagrams
  • Prepare system and subsystem level specifications.
  • Leading Peer Reviews of Systems Engineering and supporting peer reviews of other disciplines.
  • Generate Test Plans for systems and subsystems to ensure validation of requirements
  • Creation of Documentation in accordance with internal and/or customer standards.
  • Identifying and capturing architecture artifacts including functional allocations, block diagrams, interfaces, timing diagrams, etc.
  • Risk identification and migration planning.
  • Trade-off analysis and strategy.
  • Represents organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
