About The Position

Responsible for preparing, coating, and finishing parts using ceramic and powder coating techniques. Duties include surface preparation, equipment setup and maintenance, coating application, quality control, packaging, and maintaining a clean work environment.

  • up to 3 years
  • High school diploma or equivalent; 1+ year experience in an industrial painting or coatings environment preferred .
  • Knowledge of electrocoating or similar finishing processes is a plus.
  • Knowledge of wastewater treatment is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of electrical and chemical processes used in e-coating.
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of basic chemistry.
  • Fork Lift certification
  • Proficiency in programming software and basic Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work as a team player and communicate effectively with other departments and organizational team members.
  • The position requires regular and predictable attendance.
  • Scheduled shifts may include evening hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed.
  • The position is not remote and must work onsite.
  • Requires vision (near, distance, color, peripheral, depth), sense of touch, and ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – safety glasses.
  • Constantly manually manipulates, lifts/carries 10 pounds or less, and pushes/pulls 12 pounds or less.
  • Frequently stands, walks, reaches outward, bends, lifts/carries up to 75 pounds, and pushes/pulls up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally sits, reaches above shoulder, squats or kneels, lifts/carries over 100 pounds, and pushes/pulls up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to distinguish between color variations to perform titrations.
  • Exposure to heat, noise, chemicals, and moving equipment.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment.
  • Comfortable working with chemicals and in a production environment.
  • Must be able to read blue prints and production orders.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees.
  • Ability to read technical documents, safety data sheets (SDS), and operating procedures.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Must be able to do basic shop math and measurements using calipers.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of electrocoating or similar finishing processes is a plus.
  • Knowledge of wastewater treatment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces to be coated and mask as needed
  • Optimally hung parts in preparation for efficient coating operations
  • Set up and maintain equipment (spray guns, booth, filters, etc.)
  • Operate equipment and machines in accordance with specific operational and safety instructions
  • Prepare ceramic coating mixings
  • Apply coatings following specifications as per instructions
  • Follow quality control and production processing procedures
  • Identify quality control issues and recommend solutions to quality challenges
  • Remove the product from the racks and disperse to the proper location
  • Wrap and package products correctly to be shipped and/or picked up
  • Spray powder on to parts using correct techniques to assure even, consistent and optimal coverage
  • Examination of finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications and quality control
  • Maintain proper housekeeping and keep all equipment and workspaces neat and clean
  • Other duties as assigned
