Job Title: Powder Technician Department: Operations / Powder Technology Reports To: Powder Lead or Manufacturing Supervisor Shift: 1st Shift Position Summary The Powder Technician is responsible for the controlled handling, preparation, issuing, and qualification support of metal powders used in high‑purity and industrial manufacturing processes. This role builds upon Powder Blender competencies and carries expanded responsibility for powder traceability, quality support, and adherence to safety and ISO‑controlled procedures. The Powder Technician plays a key role in ensuring material integrity, production readiness, and compliance with established standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Manufacturing, material handling, or powder processing experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures.
  • Basic computer and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work safely in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Fork truck experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Issue, return, and track metal powders in accordance with work orders, bills of material, and ERP requirements.
  • Prepare powders through blending, lubing, screening, weighing, and containerization per approved work instructions.
  • Perform powder sampling, labeling, and documentation to support laboratory testing, qualification, and traceability.
  • Perform testing such as particle size distribution, powder density, and flow testing as needed
  • Support powder qualification and process validation activities by coordinating with Engineering and Quality.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper labeling of powder storage and handling areas.
  • Follow all EHS, safety, and combustible metal powder handling procedures, including PPE and grounding requirements.
  • Identify abnormalities in powder condition or process flow and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • May conduct studies, evaluate data, issue reports, and make recommendations to internal customers
  • Access, navigate, and update powder data on databases as needed.
