About The Position

The Powder Applicator is responsible for priming and powder coating parts by operating automatic and manual powder guns. The goal of the Powder Department is to maintain a safe work environment and produce quality parts as efficiently as possible.

  • High School Diploma
  • Metal fabrication manufacturing environment with prior powder experience. Willing to train the right candidate.
  • Basic knowledge of computers.
  • Operate tools: Grinder, DA sander, and other tools as assigned.
  • Respirator medical certification and training
  • Safety-toe shoes, protective eye wear, respirator when applicating, dust mask when DA sanding, gloves when loading parts, hard hat when working above head, ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Set automatic and manual guns for application in accordance with pre-set standards.
  • Apply powder to parts based on customer requirements.
  • Perform visual quality control during application.
  • Clean all system components, nozzles, tubing, etc. between color changes and at end of shift.
  • Clean powder booth between color changes and at end of shift.
  • Check and confirm accurate chemical levels in the wash system.
  • Document powder usage to support accurate inventory levels.
  • Clean respirator (PAPR) equipment.
  • Select appropriate hooks to hang parts.
  • Efficiently and accurately hang parts on the line to support the powder application process.
  • Prepare parts for application by plugging holes, taping, wiping, etc.
  • Unload parts from the line while conducting 100% visual inspection.
  • Verify & document part quantities.
  • Organize completed parts for assembly or shipping.
  • Ensure accurate paperwork accompanies completed parts.
  • Organize hooks to send out for scheduled stripping.
  • Utilize proper tools and/or equipment to support customer requirements and quality; to include DA sanding, shotblast operation, etc.
