About The Position

The Powder Coater is responsible for applying powder coating finishes to metal parts and products, ensuring consistent, high-quality coverage that meets customer specifications. This role includes preparing surfaces, applying coatings, and maintaining equipment while adhering to safety and environmental standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in powder coating or a similar role in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of powder coating processes, equipment, and materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints or work orders.
  • Attention to detail to ensure high-quality finishes.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Comfortable standing for extended periods and working in a production setting with exposure to heat, dust, and fumes.

Responsibilities

  • Surface Preparation Assist with cleaning, sand, and prepare metal surfaces using tools such as sandblasters, grinders, or cleaning solutions to ensure proper adhesion of powder coating as needed.
  • Mask and plug parts as necessary to protect areas from coating application.
  • Powder Coating Application Set up and operate powder coating equipment, including spray guns and booths, according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Apply powder coating evenly to parts while controlling thickness and quality of the finish.
  • Quality Control Inspect coated parts for uniformity, coverage, and adherence to specifications.
  • Address defects such as sags, drips, or thin spots and recoat or correct as necessary.
  • Equipment Maintenance Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of powder coating equipment to ensure consistent performance.
  • Monitor and maintain proper ventilation and filtration systems in the powder coating booth.
  • Safety and Compliance Follow all safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to minimize exposure to hazardous materials.
  • Dispose of waste and unused materials in compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Record Keeping Document work completed, including parts coated, materials used, and time spent, for tracking and reporting purposes.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding project status and issues.
