The Poultry Expert/Poultry Specialist will provide a friendly and efficient customer experience. The position builds rapport through customer interactions. This position gives customer suggestions to increase sales for the company.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays is required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis and climb ladders is required.
  • Work in a variety of indoor and outdoor temperatures.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous retail or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for watering and changing chicks bedding a minimum of two times daily.
  • Understand all processes involved with live chicks such as selling, ordering, animal maintenance, receiving product, etc.
  • Understand how to care for the live chicks and how to handle all birds, including sick/deceased animals.
  • Review and react to all communication sent from Store Support Center Partners and Vendors.
  • Research and maintain a relationship with the local 4H clubs and school FFA.
  • Complete all necessary training and understand the playbook for this role.
  • Understand the necessary supplies a customer will need to care for their live chicks and recommend products, such as feed, additives (electrolytes), etc.
  • Maintain ownership of the Special-Order poultry program.
  • Assists customers in purchasing Special Order breeds, monitors inbound receipts for arrival, contacts customers to pick up their birds.
  • Responsible for maintenance of the Orion Special Order portal.
  • Partner with your manager to ensure: Displays are set correctly Sick tanks and overflow tanks are set up and maintained Training of team members is completed, including how to identify distressed birds and proper bird handling Team members receive training regarding how to address customer concerns or questions Completion of a process for regular wellness checks, cleaning, feeding and watering the birds
  • Partner with Receiving team to ensure: All receiving team members understand how to handle birds Receiving team will receive birds and alert the poultry specialist / Management of their arrival Partnership between receiving and poultry specialist to address any sick/deceased birds in the Back of House
