About The Position

Join the Cobb Family as a Poultry Farm Worker, a full-time position responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of poultry houses and equipment. This role involves tasks such as cleaning and disinfecting facilities, removing and replacing litter, assisting with bird movement, and operating farm machinery. The successful candidate will work in a biosecure environment, adhering to strict safety and animal welfare guidelines. Requirements

  • Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months (employment gap will be increased to 18 months if applicant has been laid off or providing child or elder care).
  • Previous work history will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months.
  • Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days.
  • Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Cobb/Tyson Foods.
  • Applicants must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview.
  • Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must use safe lifting techniques.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move, up to 50 pounds (e.g., partitions, cages, bird coops).
  • May be required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 2000 pounds (e.g., skids of supplies, shavings) using tools such as a pallet jack.
  • Must regularly stand majority of shift (concrete floor); walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climbing/ladder usage; stoop/bend up to 1000 times per day; talk or hear; drive a vehicle within the farm complex; proficiently operate trailer/tractor/skidsteer/hyster.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be willing to work on wet, slippery surfaces and also in hot, dry, dusty, wet and cold environments.
  • Must maintain a high level of situational awareness while working around equipment and livestock.
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment: Safety glasses, safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, ear plugs/muffs and rubber boots. NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators may be worn as needed.
  • Must be willing to use chemicals such as vitamin supplements, animal dye, and miscellaneous disinfectants (Synergize, Lysol, bleach, etc).
  • Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.).
  • Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
  • The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility.
  • No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and disinfect poultry houses and all equipment (including vehicles/tractors) utilizing commercial pressure washer on wet/slick floor.
  • Remove used litter from houses.
  • Place new shavings in houses following cleaning.
  • Move birds as required to growing houses, laying/Pedigree houses or live haul loading area.
  • Ensure all wingbands have been removed for load outs for birds leaving the farm.
  • Maintain tractors, pressure washers, litter truck, trailers, and mechanical equipment while providing all weekly and maintenance safety checks.
  • Maintain and assist with housekeeping standards in the working areas.
  • Inspect birds to determine quality and progress by weighing birds weekly.
  • Sanitation of storage areas, breakroom, boot rooms, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Move birds, perform grounds-keeping and organize breeder tags.
  • Properly euthanize selected or weak/ill birds in accordance with company policy.
  • Assist in special or non-routine projects both inside and outside of the department.
  • Repair cages, pens, equipment and buildings or fenced yards.
  • Perform farm cleanup such as garbage/litter retrieval.
  • Follow all applicable safety policies and procedures, including Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Identify, address and mitigate safety related risks.
  • Adhere to all Company policies.
